About This Spot

Stepping into Fogón de Juan Manuel feels like slipping into a cherished corner of La Manga where time takes a gentler rhythm. Nestled quietly in Urb. Veneziola Golf, this modest restaurant welcomes visitors with an atmosphere that is both warmly familiar and quietly vibrant—where the soothing hum of conversation mingles effortlessly with the soft clatter of plates and the occasional friendly nod between regulars.

The pace here invites you to pause and savor, much like a family gathering where everyone lingers just a little longer around the table. It’s a place where you can feel the lineage of traditional Spanish dining carried through simple, well-loved recipes—each dish arriving with a kind of comforting generosity. The flavors are unpretentious but deeply rooted, evoking sunlit afternoons and stories shared over generous helpings of arroz a banda or a robust caldero served just the way locals appreciate.

Beyond the food, there’s a distinct sense of community: familiar faces around domino tables, an ever-present local cat weaving between legs, and servers who move with the effortless attentiveness of hosts who truly know their guests. Even in moments where the rhythm falters—a mixed-up order or a slower clear-away between courses—the space feels forgiving and human, reminding you that genuine hospitality lives in these small, imperfect breaths of everyday life.

Fogón de Juan Manuel is not about spectacle but about the joy of good, honest food shared in good company. Whether it’s a leisurely meal accompanied by a cool café asiático or a midday pause with a fresh and simple menú del día, this little spot offers an authentic glimpse of the slower, softer side of Spanish dining culture.

Lovely traditional Spanish bar, it's what I came to Spain for.

We’ve eaten here probably 10 times now and loved it, but yesterday we were disappointed. The waiter in the white shirt took our order but got it wrong, it didn’t matter, and they corrected it but my husband had finished his meal as mine arrived. As customers started to leave, the tables were not cleared away and as a result there were about 20 pigeons that descended on the tables to eat the left overs, causing a mess, the place looked like a tip. We watched the waiters walk past the tables time and time again without taking the food away. Two waiters had a heated discussion and we had the impression that one particular guy was taking orders, forgetting them or getting them wrong and messing up the service. Get the guy a pad and pen! Train your waiters to never come back into the restaurant empty handed! On a positive note, the food is great value for money, the fish is always beautifully cooked and the waiters have always been pleasant. We will be back next week.

Simple Menu del dia, 2 course, choice of dishes, freshly prepared and quickly served. Reasonable price too. Just like the locals use for lunch.

The waiters were very attentive (and friendly) despite our poor Spanish. The lunch menu was very well priced and the food was authentic. We were pleasantly surprised that in such a touristy area you could find somewhere so traditional and affordable. We're definitely coming back for the tapas!

Ordered take away. For take away its a cost for paellas, 10€ in deposit for the pan, and you get it back when you return the pan . This was for 2 persons, but we were 2 adults and 2 children (9yo). We also bought a baguette at a store nearby, perfect for us and everyone is satisfied
